1. Korak: The Tribe That Time Forgot
Writer: Robert Kanigher
Artist: Murphy Anderson
Pages: 14
Characters: Korak, Professor Drood, Chief Kanya, Zuno

Synopsis: After taking leave of Prof. Drood, Korak heads into darkest Africa to find Meriem. During a rain storm he comes upon an old man about to be eaten by a lion, and kills the lion. Carrying the unconscious body of the old man to a nearby village, he sees another old person, this time a skinny woman, being stoned by the people. He tries to put a stop to this but a burly brute hits him from behind with a stone ax. Korak gets up and wrests the ax from the man and fells him with it. He learns that the old man was previously the chief, but the custom is to finish off old people. Soon new Chief Zuno and his archers find the three who have broken the cruel taboos and capture them. Korak is tied between two bulls but the ropes break before Korak's muscles give way, and the villagers are impressed that a good man with pity is also strong, something new to them. Angered, Zuno, riding one of the bulls, attacks Korak with his ax, and after Kanya, the old man, gives Korak an ax, he also mounts the other bull. They have a fierce joust but Korak wins, and re-instates old Kanya as the chief. But seeing the face of Meriem in the moon, Korak must leave and wander on in his endless quest.

Remarks: Anderson has Korak sporting a thin red headband. Korak's hair in these DC issues is shoulder length, which adds to the impression that this version of Korak is still a teenager.

3. Carson of Venus: Catastrophe
Writer: MW Kaluta
Artist: MW Kaluta
Pages: 5
Characters: Carson, Duare, Moosko, Kamlot

Synopsis: Carson and Duare's debate about his right to love a janjong is interrupted by several Klangan, who fight Carson and abduct Duare at the instigation of Moosko. Knocked out, Carson is revived by Kamlot during a violent storm. In rage Carson storms out onto deck, where he is washed overboard. Fighting the waves, at last he is washed up on the beach and finds a party of beastmen finishing off the Klangan. Carson enters the fray just in time to save Duare and end the fight. Carson and Duare agree to a truce in which Carson will not speak of love.

Remarks: This episode is condensed from the rest of the events in chapter 12, 13, and the first half of 14, of Pirates of Venus. One notable aspect of Kaluta's art is his creative design of chapter title logos, similar to Windsor-Smith. Kaluta's skill at this strip is noted enthusiastically in virtually all of the Ape Vine pages.
