Synopsis: Exploring a river in a canoe, Korak rescues a black girl tied to a floating tree and about to be eaten by a crocodile. Nandee has telepathic powers and knows Korak's name. She was handmaid to Queen Tambay, who has been kidnapped by a traitor named Bangwan to trade to Chief Uga as a bride in order to prevent war. Korak and Nandee track Bangwan and find the village where he is keeping the queen. Korak frees the queen and disposes of Bangwan, but his men trail them for miles. Finally Korak finds a pair of Eland that he knows who will carry them away with speed. They reach Tambay's fortified mountain city just as Chief Uga arrives to besiege it. Riding boldly to the gates, the three have to turn and fight off advance troops until Tambay's warriors can rush onto the field and get them inside the walls. Chief Uga, a young warrior of great prowess, offers to have a one-man duel with a champion to decide the war. Korak goes down and is so agile that he is able to knock Uga out with the butt of his spear almost immediately. Uga graciously agrees to depart amicably. Korak turns down the queen's offer to be the general of her army and heads for the jungle.

Remarks: When Nandee is amazed at Korak's ability to control animals, Korak explains that he can only control animals that he already knows personally.

2. Mabu: The Rifle. 4 pages. Gaylord Dubois, writer; artist unknown. Mabu saves some girls from a man-eater with a rifle taken from a drowned outlaw.
