Synopsis: While fishing in the ocean in a canoe, Korak is attacked by Arab slavers in a dhow who wish to capture him. They manage to slightly wound him and carry him aboard, but he fights his way free and leaps into the sea with a hostage. A shark attacks and Korak kills it with his knife. Other sharks are immediately attracted and Korak swims for several hours until he reaches land, well into the night. Meanwhile Ellen Day has been kidnapped as a hostage by poachers in the jungle and manages to escape during a rain storm in the night. She knows the area and heads for a cave by the sea, knowing her footprints will be washed away by the rain before morning. She narrowly escapes being drowned in the ravine by a flash flood. The next morning she sees a lion standing over Korak's unconscious body on the beach, and miraculously bluffs it away. Korak becomes aroused and explains that the lion was Jad-Bal-Ja his friend. Korak also calls upon the local apes to deal with the poachers. They come upon a bull who is trapped in quicksand and help it out. Meanwhile the poachers have shot Warden Day in the arm, while he was looking for Ellen, forcing him to land his helicopter on a lake island. Korak, Jad, and the apes fall upon the poachers and capture them. Korak ties them up and throws their guns in the lake. He and Ellen swim to the island to find her father, and Korak has to kill a crocodile. The helicopter is in good shape so Korak flies the warden and Ellen back to their camp. Soon the son of Tarzan returns for the poachers with a truckload of local police officers.

Remarks: Jad-Bal-Ja is shown with a female companion in this story. Korak knows these apes by their names-- it is not clear what country or even which side of Africa this beach is on.
