Synopsis: A small plane flying over Pal-Ul-Don is attracted by Korak flying on his giant eagle, and, struck on the wing by a Pteranodon, it crash lands in a lake. Korak circles to assist, but before he can, a 12-foot giant armed with a slingshot comes and carries the two pilots off into a canyon. Korak retreats to his cave to plan and wait for darkness, then enters the canyon to spy on the giants who live there. He sees the two humans in a cage alongside cages with giant frogs, which are the staple diet of the giants and other creatures. Quickly he searches the woods for a certain gummy tree resin, and coats his arrow heads with it. Firing these into the dinner fire of the giants, the resin creates a dense smoke screen which enables him to slip the two humans out of the cave and canyon. The young man and girl are twins who are doctoral students in anthropology at a university in South Africa. Korak brings them back to his cave on the lake. In order to pull one of the plane's pontoons out of the mud, Korak has to lure a gryf using a wild hog as bait, and then tame it with the tricks that Tarzan taught him. Riding it back to the lake, Korak ties a rope to the plane and uses the gryf to pull it out. Immediately the Mercers start the engines and take off, just as a horde of the giants start to pelt the plane with stones. Korak chases the giants back into their canyon, on the gryf. Afterward he is rejoined by Aguila and resumes his interrupted flight.

Remarks: Aguila is not the same giant eagle as Sky Chief; this bird was enlarged using growth hormones that Tarzan gave it (see the fifties Jesse Marsh Tarzan comics.) In this story we see where Korak stays during his adventures in Pal-Ul-Don, a cave high on a cliff, with a spring of water inside. Korak cooks a dinosaur egg the size of a beachball for his supper.
