Tales of the Morgor War
TALES OF THE MORGOR WAR
PUI, Jasoom -- Barsoom invaded by Morgors. The alliance of red, green, black, white, and yellow Barsoomians in full retreat. Morgors land at Helium, Gathol, Hastor, Duhor, Tjanith, Torquas and Thark. Casualities extreme. The Warlord has called upon all military men of every nation to resist to the last.

BARSOOM INVADED!

JOHN CARTER FAILED to nullify the Morgor threat which we first discovered in Edgar Rice Burroughs' Skeleton Men of Mars. Sasoom invades Barsoom and a war of desperate survival results. Charles Ryan's vision of a world at war (with a little help from Tangor) is portrayed in a series of short stories which chronicle actions taken by both sides in this extraordinary interplanetary war. The TALES OF THE MORGOR WAR is open to all ERB pastiche writers. If you have a an original tale of the Morgor War to share, or are interested in taking on one of the tales listed in the timeline history of the war found below, contact the managing editor David Bruce Bozarth.
Commentary from Tangor, the not-quite
oldest Jasoomian war correspondent:

An ERB fan sent an email thanking me for a pastiche he had read at Tangor's Pastiche and Fan Fiction web site. I replied, thrilled to have the pat on the back, and also because the respondent indicated he, too, liked to write SF and had a little idea. We exchanged several emails--which revealed the idea as well as a rough outline. The Texican responded with a suggestion which was greeted happily with further extrapolations. Obviously, I had a Live Wire on the other end! A few more message exchanges resulted in the formation of the Tales of the Morgor War pastiche project.

The fan who started all of this is Charles Ryan, a long time fan of ERB who has just discovered the rich variety of Internet ERB pastiches. He's the one with the concept--admittedly refined by Tangor the Editor--and he presented a Barsoomian pastiche concept that excited the top publisher of Barsoomian fan fiction on the net.

Tales of the Morgor War is a fan-based expression of the alternate possibility that John Carter failed on Sasoom and barely escaped with Dejah Thoris, by the skin of his teeth, to return to Barsoom with a warning of an impending invasion. The 31 Jeddaks of Barsoom do not take heed and, sadly, the planet is ill-prepared for the Morgor Invasion. The Morgor War collection of short stories explores the invasion of Barsoom by the denizens of Sasoom (Jupiter), which is a monumental conflict between two planets which have the resources, both natural and scientific, for a to-the-death struggle for the ultimate Lieberstram.

The Tales of the Morgor War expressly explores the slice of life moments or special forces projects that are found in any war. Charles Ryan, and managing editor David Bruce Bozarth, invite one and all to relate their personal experiences in the Morgor War.
